Any player that makes his debut in the Greek top flight at the age of 16 and makes his first appearance with the senior national team before his 18th birthday would have a tone of high expectations deposited upon him. If that player also possesses the unique physical qualities of Sofoklis Schortsanitis, which render him impossible to defend in the low post for any opponent in Europe, those expectations can weigh heavily and lead to a turbulent career with enormous ups and downs. At the age of 28 however, 'Big Sofo' has finally reached a point where he is no longer under constant scrutiny and, when he feels comfortable and his teammates use him efficiently, he will produce the goods like no other player can in the paint. Now that he is no longer expected to play for long stretches in every game or hit all of his free throws, Sofoklis could contribute his best yet to the Greeks' campaign.
