Team 2012-13: Westmont College (USA-NAIA) Career: Ceyhan Belediye (Turkey-TKBL, 2006-09), North Idaho College (USA-JUCO, 2009-11), Westmont College (USA-NAIA, 2011-2013)
After being handed her senior tournament debut at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in the Turkish capital last year, Canitez kept her spot for the London Games to make up for the disappointment of missing out on a EuroBasket Women sliver medal two years when she had contributed to Turkey qualifying for the event. Now the forward is really making people sit up and take notice after being named NAIA player of the year for a second consecutive year, after leading her team to the NAIA Championship with a double-double season of 21.6 points and 12.5 rebounds-per-game. She will take shots from outside if needed but is still working on that element of her game. Her strengths are her quickness in the paint since she can pivot and spin both ways, making her tough to stop on the block. She is also a great rebounder at both ends of the floor. |
