GAME REPORT

Triumph Allow Late Lead To Slip

18. Domen Lorbek (Royal Hali Gaziantep)
Domen Lorbek paved the way for Gaziantep with 23 points

Royal Hali Gaziantep staged a fourth-quarter comeback to extend their winning run and secure top spot in EuroChallenge Group K with a 64-59 win over Triumph Lyubertsy.

Gaziantep trailed by nine points with nine minutes remaining, but Slovenian international guard Domen Lorbek scored 13 points in the final period to drag his team back into the game.

The visitors fought hard to hold on for the victory which they knew would ensure their own quarter-final qualification, but Dejan Borovnjak's big bucket gave the hosts a 59-57 advantage, and Lorbek sealed it with a three-pointer with 14 seconds remaining.

Vasiliy Karasev's team will travel back to Russia ruing the missed opportunity, as a slow start and poor finish wasted a strong effort in the middle of the game as Triumph limited the hosts' scoring chances.

Milovan Rakovic led the visitors with 18 points.

Triumph can still qualify today if BK Ventspils lose in France to JDA Dijon. If Ventspils win, the Latvian team will travel to Russia for a decisive game on 25 February.

Lorbek didn't sit for a minute during the game as he racked up 23 points. Borovnjak finished with 18 points and seven rebounds, and Baris Ermis finished with eight points and seven assists.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Royal Hali Gaziantep vs. BC Triumph Lyubertsy Moscow Region

Triumph Head Coach Vasiliy Karasev
"First, two of our team leaders didn't play and our schedule is very busy. Today, we didn't play in the final quarter. We played with young players who need to get experience."

Triumph Player Artem Kuzyakin
"It was an interesting game. In the last quarter we started nine points up front but our motivation went down and after they found free shots they caught us. We will face Ural Ekaterinburg and we will do our best to reach the Final Four. Congratulations to Royal Hali Gaziantep."

Gaziantep Head Coach Jurij Zdovc
"Congratulations to my players. It was a difficult game. I am not very happy with our play today. We made too many mistakes at some moments. After so many good games and wins, it's normal to play that kind of game like today. Good thing is we played bad but we won, but it will not be enough to reach another level."

Gaziantep Player Sertac Sanli
"It was an important game for taking first place in the group. We started well but after that we lost our rhythm. In the last quarter we had a good comeback and we won the game. We would like to make the Final Four."
