MBK Euroleasing Sopron are heading into the next stage of the EuroLeague Women full of optimism, despite ending their Group A campaign with an 82-61 defeat at CSKA Moscow.

The Hungarian outfit is young, and to finish third in their pool with five wins from 10 games has given them a lot of confidence, especially when considering that two of their setbacks came against CSKA, a team that no team in the world has been able to conquer this season.

"In the first game in Hungary, we surprised CSKA and it was a hard game," said Sopron's Ukrainian star forward Olexandra Gorbunova.

"I think that we'll fight every game regardless the opponent.

"Anyway we are a very young team and CSKA has very experienced players in its roster."

CSKA do seem to be moving from strength to strength under new coach Gundars Vetra.

"We knew before the game that we were playing against the best team in Europe and not only in Europe," Sopron Hungary Head Coach Norbert Szйkely said, before speaking of his admiration for CSKA Moscow's twin towers Maria Stepanova and Ann Wauters.

"They have very good players, especially at the center position," he said.

"We wanted to play our game and we're a little bit sad that we failed."

"But ... we are on the third line in the EuroLeague and it's a good result for such young team as we are."

Sopron did leapfrog Fenerbahce into second place, but the Turkish giants will climb back into second spot once they play their remaining Group A game on Wednesday.
