I am still pinching myself after watching another excellent EuroLeague Women Final Four. Last year in Vidnoje it was great.

This year in Brno, it was even better.

Kosit 2013 gave basketball in Europe a major thrill this season when they had a EuroLeague Women record turnout off more than 7,000 fans watch a game in the Ice Arena.

Sadly for fans of the Kosice club, that will be the main highlight because the Slovakian club crashed out of the competition on Wednesday, falling 78-60 at Lotos PKO BP.

Janel McCarville and Co finished with just three wins in Group C and ended up in fifth place - not good enough to progress to the eighth-finals.

Lotos PKO BP, who improved to 5-5, jumped into third spot and also gave US Valenciennes the result they wanted because had the Kosice club won, they would have finished fourth and advanced to the eighth-finals instead of USVO.

Needing a win, Kosit scored the game's first four points but the Gdynia club responded with a 9-0 surge, sparked by a Chamique Holdsclaw jump shot, which put them in front for good.

The Polish outfit opened up a 28-15 advantage by the end of the first quarter and increased the lead to 15 at the start of the second half.

Kosit tried to come back and pulled to within 32-25 on a McCarville jump shot with just under six minutes to go in the first half.

Then, with Lotos PKO BP going cold, the visitors closed the gap even further at 35-29 on a pair of McCarville free throws with 2:48 remaining in the second quarter.

McCarville had 13 points to lead Kosit in scoring.

Lotos PKO BP owned the rest of the period, however, closing the half with a 9-2 run, capped by a Holdclaw tap-in, for a 44-31 lead.

Their EuroLeague Women lives on the line, Kosit 2013 made one last fightback and made it 51-44 in the third quarter with an Ivana Jalcova lay-up.

Vladimir Karnay's team would get no closer.

Germany international Anne Breitreiner buried a jump shot to start an avalanche of points for Lotos PKO BP, who went to the final quarter in command at 64-46.

Kosit weren't able to get their deficit under 16 points in the last quarter.

Holdsclaw had 19 points and 14 rebounds for Lotos PKO BP, who grabbed 41 boards overall to just 18 for Kosit.
