I am still pinching myself after watching another excellent EuroLeague Women Final Four. Last year in Vidnoje it was great.

This year in Brno, it was even better.

Coach Herve Coudray could not hide his disappointment after watching US Valenciennes slump to an 86-62 defeat against Gambrinus Sika Brno in the EuroLeague Women.

The French side rarely got into their stride and lost every period except for the final 10 minutes en route to suffering their fourth defeat in seven games.

Petra Kulichova did the bulk of the damage for Brno, claiming 15 points and pulling down six rebounds, while Hana Machova weighed in with 14 points as the Group C leaders improved to a 6-1 record.

Nicole Ohlde scored 17 points for the losers, but it was not enough to put a smile on Coudray's face.

He said: "I am disappointed. We tried to prepare for the beginning of the game because we did not want to give the home team any advantage, but we did not stop Brno's nice combinations and good shooting in the first half."

Brno coach Jan Bobrovsky added: "There is no question we played the best basketball in the first quarter and the first half was better than the second one.

"Both teams played like it was a friendly game in the second half - it looked like we wanted to keep our power for another game. Valenciennes had nothing to surprise us - we knew everything about them. We dominated the game."
