Australia superstar Lauren Jackson poured in a game-high 34 points as Spartak Moscow Region rolled to a 93-67 triumph over Teo Vilnius in the opening game of their eighth-finals tie in the EuroLeague Women.

Jackson was eight of 10 (80%) inside the arc and four of seven (57.1%) beyond it.

Tatiana Shchegoleva had 21 points and 8 rebounds for Spartak Moscow Region

The Russian team, who are the defending champions, also had a big contribution from Russian power forward Tatiana Shchegoleva, who added 21 points and eight rebounds.

Jackson will play for the Rest of the World Team at the EuroLeague Women All Star Day while Shchegoleva will represent Europe.

American forward Tina Thompson was the only player to finish with a double-double. She had 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Natalia Hejkova, the coach who led Spartak to the title last season, warned everyone in the Spartak camp not to become complacent.

"It is only one win in a two-out-of-three series," she said.

"I hope nobody gets fooled from the final result since our opponents showed what they can do in the third quarter when they scored 31 points. I am proud of my girls and I am sure they will be ready for the upcoming battle on Friday."

Vilnius, who watched their star center Yelena Leuchanka leave the club for UMMC Ekaterinburg after the group stage, trailed 17-11 late in the first quarter when the hosts went on a 30-12 run to go into the break with a 47-23 lead.

At half-time, Jackson led all scorers with 16 points.

The Lithanians cut the deficit to 66-51 with 11 minutes remaining but Jackson and Kelly Miller, who finished with eight points, killed any hopes of a TEO comeback.

Spartak out-rebounded the Vilnius club, 47-27.

Kristin Haynie paced TEO in scoring with 20 points.

There was little they could do with Spartak shooting 27 of 47 (57.4%) inside the arc.

TEO finished 18 of 47 (38.2%).

TEO Vilnius host Spartak in Game Two on February 8.

Rutenis Paulauskas, the coach of TEO, said: "We know that Spartak is a great team and we really did not come to Vidnoje to win, but we did come to do our best, play as we can play and give our best effort.

"I can truly say that my team did what they were supposed to do and that is all I can ask from them."
