Caroline Aubert joined UMMC Ekaterinburg for the EuroLeague Women post-season from USO Mondeville to give them another threat from three-point range.

On Sunday, she paid a big dividend for the club with a buzzer-beating three-ball to give Ekaterinburg a 70-69 triumph over Bourges to clinch third place.

Sonja Kireta led Bourges with 20 points and seven rebounds.

With less than five seconds remaining, Deanna Nolan rushed the ball up the floor and as Bourges defenders stepped into her path, she managed to find French star Aubert open behind the arc and the 1.68m guard drilled her shot before running jubilantly to the Ekaterinburg bench and jumping into the arms of her team-mates.

"I've always dreamed of doing something like this," Aubert said.

"I do feel bad for Bourges, though."

The stunning defeat was the second in a row for Bourges, who lost in overtime to Gambrinus on Friday.

Sonja Kireta appeared to have put Bourges in a winning position in the fourth quarter when she scored 10 of her game-high 20 points.

Bourges still led by three with 15 seconds left when instead of allowing Aubert to attempt a three, they fouled the soon-to-be 28-year-old and she made both shots at the line to close the gap to 68-67.

After failing to steal the inbounds pass, Penny Taylor fouled her fellow Australian Belinda Snell and the Bourges star made just one of two for a 69-67 lead.

That set the stage for Aubert, who probably did her chances of making the France national team for this summer's EuroBasket Division A campaign a world of good as Bourges coach Pierre Vincent is also the recently-appointed coach of Les Bleues.

"Hopefully he didn't need to see that shot to know what I can do," Aubert said.

Ekaterinburg got a great game out of Svetlana Abrosimova, who scored 13 points and grabbed eight rebounds in a leading role off the bench.

Sandrine Gruda also had 13 points but Taylor was held to just four and Polish star Agnieszka Bibrzycka, Ekaterinburg's leading scorer during the season, completed a nightmare Final Four with no points in less than 10 minutes on the floor.

Snell, who with Taylor and Ekaterinburg's Kristi Harrower will play at the Olympics this summer for the Opals, scored 16 points.
