GAME REPORT

France Flatten Denmark On Day One

Denmark were left in no doubt as to the difference between Division A and Division B as they were beaten 87-33 by France on their return to the top flight at the U16 European Championship in Grobina on Wednesday.

Turning Point: This game turned France's way early on when Bathiste Tchouaffe finished the first two of three rapid fast-breaks, with an alley-oop and a dunk, as France jumped out to a 23-5 lead behind a 10-0 run inside the first 10 minutes.

Game Hero: Denmark could not contain Tchouaffe and his efficiency in the first half meant he was only required to play 17:46 in total, which will no doubt benefit him moving forward in the competition. He finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Stats Don't Lie: The fact that 27 of France's 44 first-half points came from fast-breaks demonstrates how key this was to establishing their dominance. The pattern of play changed after half-time but by this time the game was over as a contest.

The Bottom Line: France appear set for another tilt at the title at this level following an impressive display while Denmark are now under no illusions as to the task ahead of them, if they are to compete in the top flight.
