UMMC Take Third To Finish On High Note

13. Candace Parker (UMMC Ekaterinburg)
Candace Parker finished the EuroLeague Women season on a high, knocking down 20 points

Turning Point: Down by eight points at the midway point of the game, Tango Bourges were on the wrong end of a scorching 19-2 start to the second-half by UMMC and that killed-off any prospect the French champions had of securing successive third place finishes at the event.
Stats Don't Lie:
Turnovers were again the black mark on the stats line of Bourges with 19 to their name.
Game Heroes: Candace Parker and Sandrine Gruda had 20 and 16 points respectively, with home supporters also enjoying a ten rebound haul from Olga Arteshina.

Having relinquished their prestigious trophy, UMMC Ekaterinburg wrapped up their EuroLeague Women season with a comfortable 80-60 win against Tango Bourges to take the last place on the Final Eight podium.

It was a whirlwind third quarter which took UMMC to victory, following on from an entertaining first-half when Bourges largely stood toe-to-toe with last year's winners. They even made the early running, before UMMC came alive to edge in front 20-18 after the opening quarter.

The backlash many had expected in the wake of UMMC's loss to Galatasaray never quite materialised and that was to be delayed until later in the contest, although the hosts did open up a ten-point lead at 43-32 after a pair of Diana Taurasi free-throws.

Cathy Joens fired 13 points in the first 20 minutes to keep the margin at single figures heading to the locker rooms, but UMMC returned on a higher level when the play resumed.

Much to the delight of the home fans, the rousing run from the re-start culminated in a three-pointer from Olga Arteshina which put UMMC 62-37 up and well out of sight.

Bourges tried to rally, but couldn't prevent a second heavy defeat of the tournament at the hands of their opponents.

Paoline Salagnac stood out for the losing team with an exceptional 18 points.
