A spirited fourth quarter comeback from Inkognito Fashion Kormend has not been enough to see them keep their EuroChallenge campaign alive, losing on the road to Group D rivals Gaz Metan Medias 77-72.
For the Hungarian club, Tuesday offered a last-ditch effort to keep their EuroChallenge campaign alive past next week, whilst victory for the hosts mean they are into the Last 16 with a game in hand.
The visitors dashed out to a 6-0 lead but the writing appeared on the wall soon after as Medias replied with a 17-2 run, helping them to a 10-point, 22-12 buffer by the end of the opening frame.
The buffer remained for the home team up until the final period when Kormend appeared to finally realise the urgency of the situation, reeling off the first 12 points of the quarter to be back within five, 64-59 with 5:07 to play.
Rares Mandache finally halted the scoring drought for the home team, hitting a two-point jump-shot to alleviate some pressure.
Remaining close throughout the final five minutes, Rolland Torok gave Kormend a sniff of an unlikely win, his three-pointer with 19 seconds to play cutting the gap to three, 75-72.
However, the cool-as-ice Kyle Shiloh froze the game from the charity stripe, making two-from-two to complete the game's scoring.
Shiloh was prominent throughout the game, ending with an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double.
Georgios Tsiaras provided 13 points and Radomir Marojevic 10.
Muhammad El-Amin led the visitors with 20 points.
Kormend Head Coach Tamas Hencsey
"I want to congratulate the winning team. We started the game very bad, in the first quarter we scored only 12 points and that was our biggest problem tonight. We played better only in the last quarter, but that was not enough. The key of the game was our bad defence, especially in the first half."
Kormend Player Zarko Rakocevic
"It was a very hard game for us, again we had big problems in the first quarter, it seems we weren't prepared enough for this game, we saw that in the first half. At the end we played better, we had a good chance but we couldn't get [past] them."
Gaz Metan Medias Player Kyle Shiloh
"We played well, I don't think we played great, so we can do things better. Overall I think we accomplished what we wanted and we moved into the next round. It's our second qualification in a row, a big thing for the club and for all of us."
Gaz Metan Medias Head Coach Marcel Tenter
"The only problem in tonight's game was the fourth quarter, we didn't find the rhythm and made many mistakes. The 17-point lead was too confortable for my players, who lost their concentration. At the end we scored the important points and did it again. I'm very happy for this victory, for the second qualification in a row, happy for my players, for the club and not at the end for this town."
