GAME REPORT

Giants Come Up Big On The Road

13. Maxime De Zeeuw (Belgium)
Maxime De Zeeuw finished his first game of the 2013/14 EuroChallenge season with 21 points and 10 rebounds

The Port Of Antwerp Giants will cross the border back into Belgium with their heads held high and a 74-68 EuroChallenge win over JDA Dijon to their name.

With the teams headed into the final frame with scores tied at 54, JDA Dijon went cold, managing just five points in four-and-a-half minutes as the Giants posted 13 points, led by Maxime De Zeeuw with five, giving them a clinical 67-59 lead heading into the home straight.

Belgian international De Zeeuw was influential for the Giants, finishing with a 21-point, 10-rebound double-double.

With the fate of the game squarely in their hands, the Giants did not stutter, going on to lead by as much as 11 with just over two minutes to play on the back of a Barry Stewart jump shot.

Stewart recorded 13 points for the night. Other Giants players to finish scoring in double figures were Frank Turner with 15, Roel Moors also with 13 and Marko Spica with 10.

JDA Dijon's main area of concern following the game will be their inability to match the Giants in the paint, where they were outscored by their guests 46-24.

With five assists and 16 points, Mykal Riley was the main provider for the home side.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes: Dijon Basket vs. PO Antwerp Giants

JDA Dijon Basket Head Coach Jean-Louis Borg:
"It's important to see where are the reasons for this failure. We could win tonight but the defeat shows work remains.

"We were absent in the second half versus Antwerp who is a great team with a good roster."

JDA Dijon Basket Player Anthony Dobbins:
"The game was almost lost at the end of the third quarter. We made too many turnovers and without rebounds like tonight, it's difficult to win.

"We have to get back to work for the next championship game at Chalon."

Port Of Antwerp Giants Head Coach Paul Vervaeck:
"We're happy for this great win tonight. I appreciated the defensive pressure. The team put up the expected intensity.

"The preparation with the video was a good thing to understand the important points to work before the game."

Port Of Antwerp Giants Player Roel Moors:
"Respect for the adversary and competition. We had control of the tempo of the game.

"We were so confident about our defence although our shooting needs to be addressed."
