|Elin Eldebrink and Villeneuve D' Ascq reversed their fortunes at Basket Landes to punch a EuroCup Women semi-finals ticket|
Villeneuve d'Ascq survived a roller-coaster quarter-final against domestic rivals Basket Landes to win 85-70 and take the last remaining ticket for the EuroCup Women semi-finals.
After losing at home by eight points, Villeneuve extracted revenge, managing to erase the first leg deficit within six minutes as Johanne Gomis dropped a triple to make it 16-8.
And, just six minutes later, the rampant visitors completed a spellbinding 29 point swing in the tie as they stormed into a 31-10 lead to leave Basket Landes in disarray and desperately needing a response to their opponents' scorching opening.
The home side obliged in style by not only reeling Villeneuve back in, but regaining the lead in the tie with a superb recovery.
Fantastic work either side of the interval saw Landes outscore Villeneuve 37-11 to get back to trailing 47-41 on the night, but leading by two on aggregate.
However, the momentum swung back in favour of Villeneuve when led by frontcourt duo Olayinka Sanni and Emma Meesseman they put together a 15-7 run which proved a launch-pad for victory.
Even when trailing by double-digits on the night, Basket Landes were always in with a good chance of hitting back during the last quarter because of their eight point lead from the first meeting.
Anais Le Gluher-Cano scored five points in a row to reduce the damage to 77-66 with two minutes left, but there wasn't to be one last twist as Villeneuve held firm and made eight of nine free-throws to get themselves over the finishing line.
Valeriane Ayayi had 15 points and five rebounds for Landes, with Meesseman and Sanni combining for 32 points under the hoop for Villeneuve.
Elin Eldebrink and Lenae Williams also contributed a combined 32 points for the winning team.
