|Celine Dumerc led Bourges with 10-point, 10-assist double-double|
Tango Bourges recorded a 67-57 win against Good Angels Kosice to complete a play-off series success and snap up the last remaining ticket for the EuroLeague Women Final Eight.
The French champions wrapped up a trip back to Ekaterinburg next month, although briefly looked like they might squander a mammoth 18-point lead after a spectacular effort from Zuzana Zirkova who tried sparking a late revival for Kosice.
With former FIBA Europe Women's Player of the Year, Celine Dumerc pulling the strings and completing a double-double of ten points and handing out the same number of assists, Bourges got themselves 23-14 ahead during the second quarter.
Still ahead by nine points at the interval, Bourges tightened their grip with the first six points of the second half and that had a visibly irate Maros Kovacik calling a time-out in an attempt to stop the rot.
However, his team continued to labour offensively and they were down by 18 points late in the third quarter, until a triple on the buzzer by Zirkova gave the Slovak Republic side a glimmer of hope.
The score by the classy veteran was the start of a stellar individual barrage, which included a rare four-point play as part of 14 points in a dazzling five-minute spell as she dragged her team back into contention at 56-50.
But, when Zirkova was fouled out with a couple of minutes to play, Kosice lost their hot hand and Bourges were able to take advantage as Endene Miyem delivered a dagger-triple to help her team finish the job.
Leading the celebrations was 18-point Greek forward, Styliani Kaltsidou, who suffered an ACL injury on the eve of the tournament last year which forced her to miss out.
Zirkova meanwhile finished with 17 points to underline how much of a factor she could be for the Slovak Republic national team in the summer.
Kosice Head Coach Maros Kovacik
"It was a tough season, with a bad first half and better second one. I congratulate Bourges, they deserved to win the game. Now we need to cool down in order to analyse the season."
Kosice Player Zuzana Zirkova
"We lost the game, we lost the first three quarters, but we came back to within four points and had the opportunity to win."
Bourges Head Coach Valerie Garnier
"I am proud of my team, we need to appreciate this moment. We won the right to live a great adventure at the Final Eight like last year. My team demonstrated a great behaviour and we kept control over ourselves and Kosice. We played a fantastic game on defence and rebounding in particular."
Bourges Player Stella Kaltsidou
"It was a tough fight, a very physical game. We succeeded to keep control of our emotions and we stayed focused on the game and the play. We are very happy tonight."
