Natalia Vieru was dominant for Sparta&K in the paint
Ksenia Tikhonenko and Natalia Vieru both amassed double-doubles to carry Sparta&K M.R Vidnoje to a 69-54 triumph at UE Sopron and schedule a return to the EuroLeague Women Final Eight.
The former champions had to overturn a double-digit deficit to complete the series win, in what was a much improved performance by Sopron after being overwhelmed during the first meeting.
Tikhonenko walked off the court having gathered a season-best haul of 16 points and 15 rebounds, whilst Vieru accumulated 11 points and 15 boards as Sparta&K completely dominated on the glass.
However, during the early stages, the home fans were dreaming of their favourites forcing a third and deciding game back in Vidnoje after their favourites set the early pace.
With the game locked at 14-14, Igor Polenek watched contentedly as his team's confidence returned when they scored ten points without reply in an exciting surge during a super spell across the first and second quarters.
However, the visitors responded in real style with an even more potent run as they posted a devastating 24-6 burst to put them onto the front foot.
Sparta&K then locked down Sopron after the break, holding them to single digits during the third quarter, which gave them the platform they needed to eventually cruise to victory.
Zsofia Fegyverneky had an impressive 19 points in defeat and her Sopron team-mate Sara Krnjic also did her best to inspire a home win by posting an efficient 11 points and seven rebounds.
