Lithuanian Champions Continue To Fly

Newcomers Kibirkstis-Vici Vilnius are loving life in EuroLeague Women after some sharp-shooting facilitated another surprise result via a superb 81-64 success against Perfumerias Avenida in Group C.

The Lithuanian champions hosted their first EuroLeague Women game and it proved to be just as exciting as their first road trip in the tournament when they left CCC Polkowice stunned on the first night of the season.

This time, Avenida were their victims as Kibirkstis showed they are the real deal by catching fire from the three-point line as Latvian national team guard Ieva Krastina dropped a perfect four of four from long-range to claim 16 points.

In fact, the Lithuanians were on top in just about every facet of the game, with a 21-5 scoring streak in the second quarter taking them out to an eye-opening 46-26 advantage.

A response from the shell-shocked visitors was inevitable and whilst they got back to just seven points in the third quarter at 56-49, Kibirkstis put their foot back on the gas.

They finished powerfully and held their opponents to just two points in the last four minutes to avoid any nasty late bite from the Spaniards.

Veteran Vita Kuktiene contributed a fine 18 points from seven of ten floor shooting and whilst Lina Pikciute wasn't one of the home players to impress shooting-wise, her 11 rebounds and four blocked shots were essential.

Eshaya Murphy had 16 points for the losing team.
