Sonja Petrovic's double-double helped her team in Zagreb

Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje showed their resilience and quality by shrugging off the loss of former EuroLeague Women Final Eight MVP Asjha Jones to take an exciting 68-64 Group C win at WBC Novi Zagreb.

The Russian side extended their winning streak to four games as they put their hosts to the sword by showing the necessary composure during the crunch time to finish the job.

The visitors got themselves ahead after a tight first-half with a super start to the third quarter and when Natalia Vieru made it 48-35 in their favour, it looked like Sparta&K would coast to victory.

But, the home side had other ideas and especially Luca Ivankovic, who finished with 13 points and 19 rebounds.

She helped haul her team back into contention and with less than sixty seconds remaining, Novi Zagreb got back to within a point as Ivankovic sunk a pair of free-throws.

But, Sparta&K replied with a big shot by point guard Nika Baric and her backcourt partner Evgenia Belyakova wrapped things up with a basket and a couple of free-throws.

It was a fitting conclusion for Sparta&K, since Belyakova poured in 23 points, with Sonja Petrovic claiming a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Eva Komplet replied with 16 points in defeat which was also a EuroLeague Women career-high for the Slovenian.
