|Jantel Lavender once more provided the drive behind Wisla Can-Pack's victory|
Another sensational effort by Jantel Lavender was the highlight for Wisla Can-Pack as they inched closer to the EuroLeague Women play-offs with an 80-56 rout of Uniqa EuroLeasing Sopron.
Having already beaten the Hungarians on the road, Wisla comfortably completed the double over their rivals in Krakow behind another wonderful line from their prize asset.
Lavender accumulated 20 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks on a wonderful night of work.
Most impressively, she missed just one shot in a spectacular 10-of-11 shooting display after making her first ten attempts before finally firing a blank with just 90 seconds left on the game clock.
The visiting defence struggled to cope with an initial bombardment from the home side and leaked 29 points in the first 10 minutes to fall behind by 15 points.
Despite managing to shore-up their defence during the middle two quarters and even briefly threatening to bring themselves back into contention, Sopron had no answer to Lavender.
Wisla clicked back up a gear in the last quarter as their opponents imploded, with Danielle McCray adding a nice 12 points and five assists for the hosts.
The loss was tough on Tianna Hawkins who had a huge game with 33 points and 11 rebounds for Sopron.
UE Sopron Head Coach Igor Polenek
"Congratulations to Wisla. They played a very good game and eliminated all our strong elements. They stopped our picks that are so important for our tactics. The first quarter decided the result and Wisla controlled the game from the first to the last minute. The result difference is very big but Wisla deserved to win with such a high result."
UE Sopron Player Tianna Hawkins
"We came with the strong will to fight for the victory but Wisla played excellent offence and defence and scored a lot of easy points. Now it is time to think about the next EuroLeague Women games to win and to go to the play-offs."
Wisla Can-Pack Head Coach Stefan Svitek
"We are very happy with that victory. The good scouting helped us to be well prepared and I want to thank my players for the good game. I am also happy that the third quarter was not bad for us like it has been the previous games. I am also happy that I gave the chance to my bench players and that they helped a lot to win this important game."
Wisla Can-Pack Player Danielle Mc Cray
"I am happy and I think we played a very good game fighting hard, playing good fast-breaks and defending well also. It was very important for us to win and we knew it - we also knew how to do that. "
