| Endene Miyem impressed for Tango Bourges with 16 points|
With one regular season round remaining in EuroLeague Women Group A, things could barely be closer after Tango Bourges claimed a 64-48 success at HAT-Agro Uni Gyor.
With winless Gyor marooned at the bottom of the standings and UMMC Ekaterinburg having already taken top spot, Bourges joined three other teams locked on a 5-4 record.
Whilst the final margin of victory was comfortable enough, it papered over the gutsy work of Gyor who were impressively controlled and still in contention after three quarters - just about keeping pace with the French champions.
Bourges had moved 17-12 in front during the early exchanges, but Gyor responded with nine of the next 12 points as Dora Koch handed them a surprise lead.
Led by Endene Miyem and Marianna Tolo in the paint, Bourges began to grow in influence and by half-time had built up a six point advantage.
The visitors may have been expected to pull clear after the interval, but it was still a single digit margin heading into the final ten minutes which gave the home team a glimmer of hope.
But, a powerful defensive display by Bourges in the last quarter kept the prospect of any late shock at bay as Gyor ran out of steam, continuing to struggle from three-point range.
Tolo was the star of the show with a superb eight-of-nine shooting display which returned 16 points, whilst Miyem also claimed 16 points as Bourges chalked up a sixth consecutive win against Hungarian opposition.
Joslyn Tinkle had a game-high 22 points for the losing side.
HAT-AGRO Uni Györ Head Coach Tamás Bencze
"We played well for 33 minutes, but at the end we had no chance to win the game. We did what we planned, but we were too tired in the fourth quarter."
Tango Bourges Head Coach Valérie Garnier
"Győr made the game difficult for us. They caused a lot of problems for us rebounding. We could not find the right shooting position, but at the end we were able to change this, so we won."
HAT-AGRO Uni Györ Player Joslyn Tinkle
"It was important to play aggressive and fast. We managed that. I am proud the way we fought and defended."
Tango Bourges Player Styliani Kaltsidou
"Győr has its own style, it is very hard to handle it. We were pretty slow, but in the last quarter we played better."
