|Sigfredo Casero came up big for Belgium as they grabbed second spot in Group G with the win over Sweden|
Belgium boosted their Division A survival hopes with victory over Sweden in the classification round of the U16 European Championship Men.
Sigfredo Casero had 19 points while Mohamed Riahi added 16 and Thomas Akyazili 12 as last year's Division B champions took their second win of the tournament.
The win sees Belgium move to 2-1 to secure second place in Group G, giving them a better seeding for the decisive round of games where relegation will be determined over the weekend.
Belgium took control with a 13-2 run that spanned the half-time interval, leading 27-18 when Akyazili split a pair of free throws early in the second half.
Riahi stretched the lead to 33-22 with a lay-up, and when he made two free throws with 3:01 left in the period they were up 42-29.
Sweden rallied with a 7-0 start to the fourth quarter cutting the gap to 46-42 on Theodore Silveira's tip-in, but Belgium held their nerve and Akyazili's three was followed by a tip-in from Roby Rogiers to make it 53-44 with 6:29 to go.
Craig Lecesne's jump-shot and free throw cut the gap to 56-50 with 3:19 to go, but they could get no closer as last year's Division B champions eased to their second victory of the tournament.
Lecesne finished with 16 points for Sweden.
