|14. Georgios Papagiannis throws down a dunk in Greece's win over Spain|
Greece secured top spot in Group A at the U16 European Championship Men as they stifled Spain in a 57-43 victory.
In a battle of teams with 2-0 records coming into this final group game, Spain took charge early but Greece dominated the second quarter to turn the tables and Spain could not find a response.
Although Greece scored the first six points of the game Spain responded with nine unanswered, sparked by Santiago Yusta's three-pointer, and they led 16-8 early in the second quarter after Xabier Lopez-Arosteguj's lay-up.
A three from Sergi Garcia made it 19-12 but an astonishing Greek run followed, a total of 20 unanswered points highlighted by Georgios Papagiannis' dunk as Spain went scoreless for more than 10 minutes, extending into the third quarter.
Yusta stopped the rot for Spain with a dunk of his own and then, early in the fourth quarter, hit a three-pointer that put them back in touching distance at 38-34.
Greece responded, Papagiannis hitting free throws and Dionysis Skoulidas nailing a three to paid their lead.
Further threes from Skoulidas and Vasileios Mouratos made it 52-36 with 2:02 to go and Spain could not respond.
Vasileios Charalampopoulos led Greece with 14 points and 12 rebounds while Papagiannis had 12 points and 11 boards. Skoulidas also scored in double figures with 10.
Yusta had 17 points for Spain with Lopez-Arosteguj adding 11 and Ramon Vila 10.
