Spain survived a scare to defeat Croatia 64-63 for their first win in the Second Round of the U18 European Championship in Latvia.

Two made free throws from Lovro Mazalin cut Spain's lead to just one-point with 27 seconds remaining, and when Agusti Sans missed a lay-up with three seconds to play Domagoj Bosnjak had one last chance to win the game.

However his rushed three-point attempt was wayward, leading to an emotional release from the Spaniards whp fell to the the court in relief.

Sans had 25 points for Spain - 11 of which came in the third quarter - as the team rebounded from Monday's shock loss to England.

Ilimane Diop added 12 points and six rebounds.

Tomislav Gabric and Marko Arapovic scored 13 each for Croatia.
