|Domantas Sabonis came up big for Lithuania in the final frame as they came back for a dramatic victory|
Lithuania erased a double-digit final quarter deficit to fend off a fired up Slovenia 74-69 and record its first win at the U18 European Championship on Friday.
After failing to translate its large rebounding advantage into any type of scoreboard dominance through the first three quarters, Lithuania appeared to have fallen behind for the last time after a buzzer-beating Slovenian three, and a subsequent technical foul on Lithuanian coach Saulius Stombergas in the third quarter, pushed the lead back out to double-digits.
Back-to-back threes from Paulius Valinskas and Zydrunas Jurgutis over a three-second stretch swung momentum in Lithuania's favour.
Valinskas led Lithuania with 14 points while Domantas Sabonis provided valuable fourth quarter inside presence and rebounding, ending with 12 points and 14 rebounds after a frustrating start to the game.
An animated Matic Rebec (20 points, eight assists) and Ziga Zatezic (23 points) led Slovenia.
