|Selale Kepenc hit some clutch shots to help Turkey prevail over Bulgaria in Friday's classification action|
Turkey sealed their Division A place in next year's U16 European Championship Women with a 79-76 victory over Bulgaria in a thriller in Varna.
An 8-0 run put Turkey clear in the first quarter, but Bulgaria's offense finally clicked into gear in a strong second quarter, ending the half with seven consecutive points as Debora Filipova's three-pointer cut the Turkey lead to six.
The comeback was complete in the third quarter as they tied the game with Nikol Nikolova's free throws, but Selale Kepenc drained a three-pointer to end the period.
And Kepenc struck again from long range to break a 74-74 tie with 2:33 remaning. Bulgaria could not make their shots down the stretch, and Kepenc sealed victory from the line.
Kepenc had a game-high 22 points and added 12 rebounds while Melisa Korkmaz and Inci Guclu had 13 points apieice, Guclu adding nine rebounds and five blocks.
Gabriela Nikolova had 18 points, seven rebounds and three steals for Bulgaria, who are still searching for their first win of the tournament.
They will face Belgium or the Slovak Republic on Saturday, and the losers will be relegated to Division B for 2014.
