|Defending champions Spain advance to the next stage in undefeated manner|
Spain won their final Group A match against Greece 60-40 to maintain their 100% record in the U16 European Championship Women.
Spain started brightly taking an early 14-6 lead, but Greece battled back to tie the game at 19.
The Spanish side were looking to continue the momentum from their first two victories, and over-powered Greece on the boards in the first half.
They were not able to convert their extra possessions into a commanding lead though as Greece stayed close, holding the Spanish team scoreless in the final two minutes of the half to reduce the lead to three.
Spain used a 13-3 burst at the end of the third quarter to finally create separation between the teams, and Greece were unable to mount a comeback despite another strong showing from Evgenia Kollatou (14 points).
Angela Salvadores led all scorers with 18 points and Cecilia Muhate added a double-double (13 points, 12 rebounds).
Greece will now be watching the later game between Croatia and hosts Bulgaria with interest. A win for Croatia will guarantee Greece's passage into the second round.
