Germany rallied in stunning fashion to edge Hungary 58-55 in a classification games for 13th to 16th place clash at the U20 European Championship Women on Saturday.
The Germans now need one more win to survive in Division A, while winless Hungary are destined for Division B.
Hungary grabbed the lead in the final two minutes of the second quarter, and used seven points from Zsofia Licskai to pull away to a 40-30 buffer midway through the third quarter.
They still held a 10-point advantage with five minutes remaining, but Germany caught up, helped by triples from Lena Gohlisch and Ilka Hoffmann, before pulling out to victory in the final minute.
To snatch a win, Germany scored six of their 14 second-chance points in the final three minutes of the game.
Laura Hebecker scored 14 points for Germany, Hoffmann had 11 points and eight rebounds, while Gohlisch contributed with 10 points.
Amadea Szamosi scored 14 in defeat, while Licskai collected 11 points and 10 rebounds.
