|Dijana Stancic netted 15 points for Serbia|
Serbia led from start to finish and defeated Belarus 73-53 to pick up their first victory in Group A of the U20 European Championship Women in Samsun on Friday.
Helped by their early domination on the offensive boards, Serbia took a 24-14 lead in the second quarter and held it, 33-26, at halftime. The decisive run came at the end of the third and start of the fourth quarter, when Natasa Kovacevic contributed with nine points in a 13-2 run that put Serbia up 56-37.
Serbia overcame their 25 turnovers by out-rebounding Belarus 57-30 and holding them to 0-for-9 shooting from behind the arc. Meanwhile, Serbia's 21 offensive rebounds led to 23 second-chance points, and a big victory.
Kovacevic led the winners with 20 points and eight rebounds; Dijana Stancic netted 15 points; and Nevena Markovic grabbed 14 rebounds along with her eight points. Darya Lipinskaya scored 17 in defeat.
