|Plenette Pierson once again set the foundations for the Good Angels win with 22 points|
Turning Point: The offence of Good Angels Kosice evaporated completely during the third quarter and having scored only one point with less than three minutes to go in the period, they burst into life with an 11-2 run.
Game Heroes: Plenette Pierson finished with 22 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. Meanwhile the energy of Natasha Lacy was also hugely important, since she was mainly responsible for initiating the second half revival which won Kosice the game.
Stats Don't Lie: A total of 20 turnovers was one of the main causes of CCC Polkowice missing out on a semi-final spot.
A 22-point haul from veteran Plenette Pierson propelled Good Angels Kosice to a 66-54 win against CCC Polkowice and into the semi-finals of the EuroLeague Women Final Eight where they will meet Fenerbahce.
The on-court leader of Kosice, 31-year-old Pierson found the perfect time to deliver one of her typically rock solid displays to get her team into the last four against a tough CCC Polkowice team who fought hard, but just ran out of gas.
Pierson was full of praise for her opponents after the contest and also the accomplishment of her own club.
"They [Polkowice] have no reason to hang their their heads," before adding, "I am very proud, because this club [Kosice] means absolutely everything to me" added Pierson.
"It's the reason I go out there and play so hard. This performance was one way to repay them for the way they look after me and it's a very special night for everyone at the club."
There was little daylight between both clubs for much of the early part of the game with CCC Polkowice managing to sneak into a 15-14 lead after the opening ten minutes.
However, Polkowice subsequently endured a five minute spell without scoring, whereas in stark contrast, Kosice posted a 12-0 run having finally found some offensive rhythm.
With a healthy 33-23 advantage, the Slovakian side could have done without a poor start to the third quarter.
Their opponents scored nine of the first ten points in the second half and threw a defensive blanket over Kosice.
Good Angels desperately needed a stimulus and it arrived via Pierson and Lacy, who helped re-establish control at 45-34.
Valeriya Musina kept CCC Polkowice alive with a three-pointer as she briefly cut the deficit to single digits early in the fourth, but there was to be no fight back as Kosice sensed their opportunity.
They began to dominate and Allie Quigley sunk a three-ball from the corner with ninety seconds remaining to seal the deal and send a gallant Polkowice home.
