Quotes: EWE Baskets - Okapi Aalstar

26 February 2013

Okapi Aalstar coach Brad Dean

"Congratulations to EWE Baskets. They deserve to go through to the Quarter-finals as they have been the dominant team in our group. We came into the game with a lot of issues and basically just wanted to stay healthy and give a lot of guys playing time. Unfortunately our EuroChallenge adventure has come to an end, but we will learn from it and use the experience next season."

Okapi Aalstar player Derek Raivio

"It was a close game against a veteran team. EWE Baskets has a very deep team and we are down a couple of men due to injuries. Because we could not advance to the next stage, we only played for our pride tonight."

EWE Baskets coach Sebastian Machowski

"The game didn't have huge meaning, so I am proud of my team that they still showed some fight and played for the win. We wanted to end the round of 16 on a high note and we did. Despite their injuries Aalstar showed that they are a capable team and they stayed in the game longer than we liked. When we found our defensive intensity we managed to build a lead and substitute freely."

EWE Baskets player Kevin Smit

"This was not an easy game for us because we already had the first place in our group secured before this game even started. That made for a rather bad first quarter, which we consequently lost. But we had a couple of good runs in the second and third quarter and that is how we won this game."
