GAME REPORT

Dolphins Hold On At Death

8. Edgars Jeromanovs (Norrköping Dolphins)
Edgars Jeromanovs made a clutch two-pointer for Norrköping Dolphins, tying the game up with two seconds to play

Mikael Lindqvist scored two free throws in the last second as the Norrkoping Dolphins came back in the final 10 seconds to edge Tofas SC 84-82 for their first win in Group K of the EuroChallenge.

The Dolphins had led most of the way in a tight contest, although their largest lead of the night, a 64-56 advantage in the third quarter, was hardly comfortable.

Things got very edgy at the finish, however, as a lay-up from Steven Burtt and a three-pointer from Inanc Koc turned an 80-77 Dolphins lead into an 82-80 Tofas edge with 25 seconds left.

The Dolphins called timeout and set up a shot for Edgars Jeromanovs to tie it back up with nine seconds left.

Burtt tried to respond with a jump-shot for the visitors, but after he missed, Lindqvist drew a foul from Austin Nichols, his fifth.

With the game on the line, Lindqvist held his nerve to sink both shots and give the Dolphins victory.

The free throws took Lindqvist's total to a game-high 21 points as he led five players in double figures. Christian Maraker added 14 while Joakim Kjellbom had 13, Oladapo Ayuba 11 and Jeromanovs 10.

Chinemelu Elonu led Tofas with 17 points while Koc collected 15, Burtt 13 and Joshua Heytvelt 11.

The result leaves both teams at 1-1 in the group.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Norrköping Dolphins vs. Tofas Bursa

Tofas' Player Can Altintig
"We started really bad. We let them score 24 points in the first quarter and 21 points in the second quarter. It is not easy to loose like this. But this is basketball, and we will continue to work hard."

Tofas' Head Coach Amit Caki
"We did not start well. We scored better in the second quarter and in the last quarter we were in the game. Before the free throws we were in it. We should have taken the loose ball before they hit the shot to tie the game. I did not see the foul in the end but we should not have done that, it is unacceptable, one of our most experienced players Austin Nichols made the foul and it is not good. Congratulations to Dolphins. We made easy mistakes. Every game is really important."

Dolphins' Head Coach Paul Burke
"To be able to get this win is great for us because this is a really good team. They dominated the rebounds and they kept getting second chances. If we hadn't started to rebound better in the second half we would have lost and I told the guys that. Right now I am very pleased as a coach.

It was a good game. If they commit to do this, and if we can have this intensity every time we can do something really special. It is big for a team in Sweden to get a win like this.

You cannot erase fouls as a referee, so I asked what was going on and he was not sure about the decision. So I asked if we could check the video and it was true, the foul was before the signal."

Dolphins'player Mikael Lindquist
"It was a good win, we played really well. We had some mistakes for a period but we found a way to win. Good job. We wanted to win on our home court and advance from the group."
