GAME REPORT

Minsk Find Their Rhythm, Punish Apollon

41. Aliaksandr Kudrautsau (BC "Minsk-2006")
Veteran Aliaksandr Kudrautsau had 20 points for Minsk in the big home win

Tsmoki Minsk put their domestic troubles to one side to pour on the misery for struggling Pizza Express Apollon with a 93-62 victory.

Minsk have got off to a poor start in the Belarusian League, but not as bad as the visitors from Apollon who remain winless at home and abroad, and they took advantage to record a moral-boosting win.

Minsk ran up the score in the final minutes, going on a 16-4 spurt to close the game and build their confidence.

The game had long been decided, with Minsk leading 38-29 at half-time and then using an 8-2 run to go 55-40 up midway through the third period on Dzianis Korshuk's three-pointer.

A 10-2 run had them up 67-48 going into the final period and it only got worse for Apollon down the stretch as Minsk never eased off, JaJuan Smith capping the victory with two three-pointers in the final 40 seconds.

Those shots made Smith the top scorer in the game with 22 as he overtook team-mate Aliaksandr Kudrautsau, who finished with 20.

Aliaksei Lashkevich also finished in double figures with 12 while Aliaksei Trastsinetski added 10.

The performance of Brandon Brown was one of the few bright spots for Apollon as he poured in 24 points and collected 13 rebounds.

Daryl Dorsey also scored in double figures with 10 points.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes: Tsmoki-Minsk vs. Apollon

Apollon head coach Akis Konstantinou

"My team played very bad today. Especially in defence and rebounding. Every team playing this way will lose. So result is correct."

Apollon player Jason Detrick

"We lost first part of the game. Our opponent played very well as a team, move ball fast and lead a game. In the second part we tried to change this situation but it was too late."

Tsmoki-Minsk player Aliaksei Lashkevich

"We started our preparation to the season too late and today was the first time we played completely like our coach wants. So it was a very different game. Our team will improve."

Tsmoki head coach Andrey Krivonos

"It was a good game for everybody. We started to play more interesting and we won. So, I think now our team can find its game and the result will be better."
