|Ivana Matovic led the way for Fenerbahce, delivering her best performance of the season|
Ivana Matovic showed why she was recently handed a contract extension after one of the most astonishing displays of the entire EuroLeague Women season propelled Fenerbahce to a 93-61 play-off win over Uni Györ.
The in-form Serbian forward eventually finished with 28 points from a dazzling 13-of-15 floor shooting, as well as foraging for eight rebounds and handing out four assists.
The visitors eased their way into the game and were level at 12-12 after the opening five minutes as Australian point guard Natalie Hurst scored for the home side, but this was to be the calm before the storm.
As the game unfolded, Fener shifted up through the gears and Gyor just couldn't cope.
A devastating 21-6 run either side of the first and second quarter break allowed them to move clear as Ieva Kublina grabbed a basket against her former employers on the fast break.
But, it was frontcourt partner Matovic who continued to steal the show, at one point having made 11 of 12 attempts and the Györ forwards seemingly helpless in stopping her under the hoop.
Fener left the court having poured in 54 points by half-time to open up a 19-point lead, and Györ were to be disappointed if they thought their opponents would ease up in the second half.
They kept their foot firmly on the gas with a 20-12 final quarter to storm to victory.
Hurst had 17 points and six assists for Györ, whilst Cindy Lima grabbed a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds on debut for the hosts.
