|Gabriela Marginean led Municipal Targoviste with 19 points|
The fairytale continued for Municipal Targoviste as they collected their third straight EuroLeague Women win, holding off Arras for a 72-64 victory in Group B.
Things got nervy at the finish as a 14-point lead shrank to just two with two minutes left on the clock, but they scored the final six points of the game to take the win.
Gabriela Marginean poured in 19 points while Monique Currie and Milka Bjelica had 17 each for Targoviste, who registered their first ever EuroLeague Women victory just two weeks ago but now look to be making them routine.
They took control of this one midway through the first quarter with eight unanswered points putting them 18-10 up on a Jillian Robbins' jump-shot.
Arras got back within one again at the start of the second quarter, but could not get level and a 10-2 run gave Targoviste a double-digit lead at the break, 40-30.
The advantage would grow to 57-43 when Marginean made a lay-up midway through the third quarter but Arras then began a comeback, and a 13-2 run closed it to 59-56 when Aurelie Carmona hit a three-pointer to start the final stanza.
Three times they got within two points, and the gap was 66-64 with 2:11 left, but Targoviste continued to find an answer, and Currie and Marginean sank key free throws down the stretch to hold them off.
Radoslava Bachvarova scored 22 points for Arras while Ines Ajanovic added 11 with eight rebounds.
The win lifts Targoviste to 3-2 in Group B while Arras remain winless after five games.
Arras Head Coach Thibaut Petit
"We played without three players, against a team that used the right strategy in order to win the game. They made a lot of rebounds. We are going to work harder for the next game."
Arras player Radoslava Bachvarova
"We didn't play at our best and we lost the game; it was also hard because of the atmosphere in the gym"
Municipal Targoviste head coach George Dikeoulakos
"I am very proud of the team, the staff. The plan we prepared for this game was succesfull, even if the injury of Robbins disorganised us. The fairytale goes on."
Municipal Targoviste player Ksenia Tikhonenko
"I want to congratulate my team for this beautiful win, and thank the fans who supported us."
