GAME REPORT

Schio Make It Four In A Row

A 20-point haul from Jantel Lavender helped Famila Schio to blow out struggling Arras 74-49 in EuroLeague Women Group B as the Italian club protected its' unbeaten record with a fourth straight victory.

Schio continued their impressive start to the new season although they barely needed to get out of first gear against an Arras team who has yet to find a EuroLeague Women win and continues to struggle domestically.

They were at least boosted by the long awaited return to health of Ukranian forward Olesia Malashenko, although this boost was quickly forgotten in a rotten start to the contest.

The hosts made a quick-fire opening and had established a double-digit lead at 22-11 after Laura Macchi sunk a three-pointer. Whilst Arras managed to stem the tide in the second quarter, they were soon back on the ropes just minutes after the re-start.

Schio rattled off a 15-2 run at the beginning of the third quarter and that set the tone for the remainder of the game as they rode out comfortable winners.

In addition to the fine work of Lavender, Elodie Godin had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Dawn Evans was the only player to scrape into double-figures for Arras who suffered from a woeful shooting night.

COACH QUOTES

Quotes Famila Schio vs. Arras

Maurizio Lasi, Famila Schio coach:

"I really appreciated the way we played tonight; always focused, good shooting and strong defense. We need to continue to work hard and do our best, game by game."

Jantel Lavender. Famila Schio:

"We're satisfied with our win tonight. We worked so hard during this week to come ready and win our fourth match in this beginning of EuroLeague. Our feeling on the court is growing and I think we can do great things this season."

Thibaut Petit, Arras coach:

"We stopped fighting too soon. We're not a talented team and the way for us to be competitive is remain aggressive for 40 minutes every time.  We played for 20 minutes and in the third quarter we let Schio play alone."

Dawn Evans, Arras:

"Schio is a very good team but we worked in order to be more competitive [that we were tonight]. We didn't expect this kind of game. We will [return to] fight again the next game."
