EUROLEAGUE WOMENRivas Ecopolis fueled hopes of another magnificent run in the EuroLeague Women with a 79-48 rout of Tarsus Belediye Spor on Wednesday night in Madrid.
Miguel Mendez's team surprised all the experts last season when they made it to the Final Eight and then reached the title game.
Now they have opened the 2012-13 campaign with a resounding victory in Group A.
Any hopes of Tarsus bouncing back from last week's defeat at Sparta&K Moscow Region all but disappeared in the first 10 minutes when Rivas stormed into a 22-4 lead.
Anna Cruz had eight of her game-high 18 points in the first frame for Rivas.
Mendez's side, which has some of the most promising youngsters in the entire competition, stretched the advantage to 47-25 by half-time.
They went in front in the third quarter by 42 points and cruised the rest of the way.
Also for Rivas, Aneika Henry added 14 and Olexandra Kurasova 11.
Tarsus, with former Rivas star Amaya Valdemoro in the squad and scoring just four points on one-of-10 shooting, made 29% (18 of 62) of their attempts from the floor.
