|Danielle Robinson and Shay Doron were the main destroyers for Tarsus|
Blistering backcourt performances from Danielle Robinson and Shay Doron catapulted Tarsus Belediye to an 81-72 home win against BK Imos Brno in the battle to avoid bottom spot in EuroLeague Women Group A.
The pair both shot over 62% from the floor, with Robinson claiming 25 points as well as seven assists, whilst Israeli national team star Doron contributed 14 points.
Melisa Can and Delisha Milton-Jones weighed in with a combined 30 points and 19 rebounds in the paint, making it a nicely balanced team performance from Tarsus as they took their third win of their rookie campaign.
The hosts were on the front foot right from the outset, racing out to a 24-16 advantage after the opening ten minutes of action, which they subsequently extended to double-digits with the first score of the second period.
But, led by the impressive Farihya Abdi who claimed 25 points for Brno, the visitors rallied and worked hard to get themselves on an equal footing, tying the game up at 36 apiece.
But, either side of the interval, Tarsus regained the upper hand and were always in control thereafter.
When Can scored to make it 62-50, Brno were always playing catch-up.
Whilst a 12-4 run either side of the third and fourth quarter break gave the Czech side some hope, it faded away during the closing stages as Tarsus eased over the line.
The visitors were left ruing 19 turnovers and not being able to find any consistency from long-range.
It was a fine double for Tarsus, having claimed a historical first EuroLeague Women success in Brno with a convincing 90-70 victory earlier in the season.
Jan Bobrovsky, Brno coach:
"We played without two [key] players. But still we played better than in the first half of the first game in Brno. Had we made less mistakes the result would be more dramatic at the end."
Farhiya Abdi, Brno:
"It was a close game. We played good for the entire game but it was hard to win without Horakova. We fought for the whole game but we could not finish good."
Erdal Yegin, Tarsus coach:
"Today my team played really good and controlled the tempo of the game from the off. Even though they were missing players they hustled well but we did not give up the discipline of our game. We do not have any chances to go to the next round but winning is still good. Congratulations to Brno for their fighting spirit."
Deniz Çolakoğlu, Tarsus:
"In the beginning of the game we had a hard time on both ends of the court but we gradually got conrol of the game. İt was a good game in which both teams put their best effort but we were a
little better than them and we won at the end. Congratulations to Brno and good luck to them for the rest of their season."
