Wisla Can-Pack scored the final five points of the game to come from behind and top Rivas Ecopolis 66-62 on the road in Group A of EuroLeague Women.
Rivas had led 58-53 inside the final five minutes and even after Wisla had come back at them, the hosts - looking to move to 4-1 in the group - held a 62-61 edge following Aneika Henry's jump-shot with 92 seconds left.
But Alana Beard hit straight back with a three-pointer and Anna Cruz could not match it as her attempt from long range missed.
Beard missed a chance to pad the Wisla lead but Henry was again off-target with a jump-shot as the game moved into the final seconds.
That forced Rivas into fouling and when she went to the line with three ticks left, Dora Horti made both free throws to seal the win.
Despite the need for a late rally, Wisla were decent value for their victory, having led for more than half the contest, their largest lead a 49-43 edge midway through the third period.
Tina Charles led Wisla with 31 points and 11 rebounds while Beard had 17.
Oleksandra Kurasova had 25 points for Rivas while Queralt Casas added 12.
Rivas Ecópolis Coach Miguel Méndez
"As expected, it was a tough game. Wisla is a team that makes a lot of plays to their foreign players, especially Tina Charles, so our target was to limit the production of the rest of the team. I think we had success in doing that. But we payed for the fact that some of our most important players didn't have a good day in the offensive end. Close to the end of the game we were up by five points, and we failed on three consecutive attacks. In the end, it was a head or tails situation, and Wisla had more success."
Rivas Ecópolis Forward Olexandra Kurasova
"I think we didn't play at our best on defence, and we also suffered from a lack of rebounding. But I see that the key was in the rhythm of the game. We like to be a fast-paced team, and Wisla was capable of slowing down the tempo of the game, which made it difficult for us."
Wisla Can-Pack Coach José Ignacio Hernández
"We knew that this is a tough court. We were approaching this game with a lot of pressure, due to our lack of wins when we didn't have our American players. Rivas is a team that works really well defensively, they created a lot of problems for us. Tina Charles was great, but that's why she is here. She's developing into a team player. In the second half we tried some 'mutant' defences, changing them, which helped us to stay in the game. It's been an important win for us."

"It has been a team effort win, not just me. It has been a difficult game, and looking at the stats I had good numbers, but that's because everyone has a role in this team, and many times my role is to provide those points. We played good in key moments, hitting some clutch shots. I think it's awesome to have logged this win".
