|Endene Miyem had 16 points for Bourges Basket in EuroLeague Women Wednesday night action|
Bourges Basket moved to 4-1 in Group A of EuroLeague Women as they eased away to beat Uni Gyor 57-47.
The visitors enjoyed the lead for much of the early going, but once Bourges had grasped it late in the second quarter, they moved through the gears to win it fairly convincingly.
A 10-1 spurt turned the game in Bourges' favour late in the first half. Baskets from Endene Miyem, Emmeline Ndongue and Frida Eldebrink put them 27-24 up with 2:37 left in the first half, and Miyem then hit back-to-back jump shots before the buzzer to make it 31-25.
Celine Dumerc hit a three-pointer that moved the lead into double figures with 6:32 left as they went 51-39 up and the lead reached 55-40 on Miyem's lay-up with a little over five minutes left.
That was enough to win it on a night where neither team shot better than 35%.
Ndongue and Miyem had 16 points and eight rebounds each for Bourges.
Chalysa Shegog had 11 and Nora Nagy-Bujdoso 10 for the visitors.
Bourges Basket head coach Valérie Garnier
"We didn't start the game well and even if the defence was not so bad, we made some big mistakes. It was a difficult game but the most important thing was to win this game and to take the lead on Gyor.
Bourges Basket player Céline Dumerc
This game was important after our last game in the french championship. The game was not perfect and we needed time to enter in the game, that's what I shared with my team during the break. It was very important to start well the third quarter. that's what we made !
Uni Gyor heac coach Ákos Füzy
"It's not possible to win in Bourges with only 47 points and losing the rebound fight. Bourges played a good game and we missed some spirit during the third and the fourth quarter. We lost against the most important team and now we will fight to keep 5th or 6th place."
Uni Gyor Player Dóra Nagy
"I'm happy and sad. Happy to be back in Bourges with its nice supporters and sad to lose this game and to miss the fighting spirit we can demonstrate. But we will take this game as an example to work on it and progress."
