The first week of EuroLeague Women ended as it started with high drama after dream debuts from Natalie Hurst and Chalysa Shegog helped Hat-Agro Uni Gyor claim a memorable 72-70 win against BK IMOS Brno.

It was definitely a case of saving the best until last for the newcomers who both rocketed straight to the top of the EuroLeague Women statistical charts.

Australian playmaker Hurst pulled the strings to wonderful effect and became the first player this season in the competition to reach double-digits in assists, dishing up 10 of them to go with an impressive 14 points.

Shegog meanwhile did the business in the frontcourt by recording the best shooting percentage of the opening week with eight of nine floor shooting to claim 17 points along as well as clutching eight rebounds.

It was a wonderful night for the home fans in Gyor since they watched their team launch a great comeback which made victory taste that little bit sweeter.

They trailed by double-figures at 41-30 towards the end of the second quarter but after an excellent end to the half and an improved third quarter, they eventually completed the fightback.

With eight minutes left in the game, a triple by Zsofia Simon put the hosts 55-54 ahead, and they subsequently stretched their lead when the Brno offence continued to misfire.

Leading 71-62 with a little over two minutes remaining, the win looked a certainty for the buoyant home side, but they had to survive a major scare when the visitors scored eight points in a row in a nervous finale.

However Gyor managed to cling to victory and was boosted by a nice cameo from Nora Nagy-Budjoso who had 15 points and seven rebounds.

Tereza Peckova produced a game high 21 points for Brno.
