| 17.01.2012 Zoran Lukic, head coach of BC NN: "I want to congratulate Besiktas for their win. Our opponent made an important 8-0 run at the end of the second quarter, and they broke away. They retained the difference in the score till the end of the match and didn't give us any chance to reach them. Our players couldn't handle their opponents. It was really hard to play against them. From time to time we succeeded to create a good situation but we missed open-jumpers and rebounds. In the end, the game was won by the team that was better." Ergin Ataman, head coach of Besiktas Milangaz: "We tried to play smart and it was a really good game, especially from a strategic point of view. In the beggining we tried to play tough against Bremer and Paunic. We controlled the rebounds and tried not to let Nizhny Novgorod play their usual offensive game. We also tried to balance and have every player scoring. It was a very important game for us, Nizhny Novgorod is a good team, but today we had more concentration." Semen Antonov, BC NN player: "We missed experience and luck today. Our percentage from open-jumpers was low. What's the most important we lost the battles of the boards. Though, we scouted all these things before the game. When we tried to help a team-mate, we often were not ready to handle their big players under the basket. The visitors played very effectively in offense, not letting us get back into the game in the second period." Pops Mensah-Bonsu, BC Besiktas Milangaz player: "Personnaly I just wanted to make sure I play hard, establish myself in this game and help my team as much as possible. I know this competition is rather tough, so I just wanted to make sure our team establishes itself." |
