|Zvonko Buljan led the way for the Telekom Baskets with 23 points and 9 rebounds|
Telekom Baskets Bonn mounted a game-winning comeback in the final minutes to shock Elan Chalon in the EuroChallenge Last 16.
Zvonko Buljan led the way with 23 points and nine rebounds, but it Simonas Serapinas was the hero as he drilled a game-winning jumper at the death in an 91-89 Bonn victory.
The result has left both sides with 1-1 records in Group J.
Chalon appeared to be closing in on their fifth straight win in the competition.
They had an 87-82 lead just 1:24 from the end.
Buljan sank two free-throws for Telekom Baskets, though, and after Abdul Aminu was off target with a jump shot for Chalon, Jared Jordan tied the contest at 87-87 with a three-pointer.
Chalon's Nicolas Lang tried to put his team back in front but missed from behind the arc with 26 seconds to go.
Blake Schilb grabbed the offensive rebound, only to have his pass intercepted by Buljan.
Telekom Baskets then went to the other end and Anthony Gaffney caught a pass from Jordan and dunked his team into an 89-87 advantage with just three seconds to go.
Chalon still had time to pull level and they did.
Coming out of a timeout, they got the ball to Schilb and he managed to score with a lay-up to knot the contest at 89-89.
Telekom Baskets then took a timeout to draw up the last play and when play resumed, Jordan passed to Simonas Serapinas and he drilled a game-winning jumper at the death.
Chalon lost despite shooting a marvellous 16 for 24 on three pointers.
"This was a tough game with high intensity on both sides. Everybody scored but you cannot make a regret on the defense. I have to congratulate Bonn for this victory. They did everything to win the game like my team did."
Elan Chalon player Ilian Evtimov
"This was a very interesting basketball game even if we did not play defense as we wanted. We knew that Bonn is a high-scoring team. We could not make them score less. That led to one play at the end with the better end for Bonn."
Telekom Baskets Bonn head coach Michael Koch
„All fans can be proud of our team. The scoring from Chalon was unbelievable, even a good defense has problems with that. The last minutes of the game were just fight. Without our center Chris Ensminger all players had to step up and they did. Both teams played very strong but perhaps we wanted the win after this big fight a little bit more."
Telekom Baskets Bonn player Tony Gaffney
"I think we showed a lot of character today. Numerous players step up and make a big game. We fought for 40 minutes. Our fans did a great job too. They supported us the whole time. It was difficult for us to play without Chris Ensminger but the team did a very good job."
