Courtney Paris had career highs in points and rebounds to help Botas Sports Club claim a narrow first-leg triumph in their EuroCup Women Quarter-Final at Gran Canaria on Thursday night.
The American center finished with 24 points and 22 rebounds as Botas prevailed, 67-64.
Paris had 10 points and 13 boards in the first half.
The Turkish team looked as if they might win the game by a large margin when going in front by as many as 13 points early in the second quarter.
A Quianna Chaney three-pointer stretched the Botas advantage to 27-14.
That basket gave Chaney 13 points and she ended up scoring a team-high 27.
But Gran Canaria charged back and closed the gap to 38-34 by half-time.
Vanessa Ble had 11 points at the break for Gran Canaria.
Seven minutes into the third quarter and the Canary Islands outfit had their biggest advantage when the score was 53-46.
That came courtesy of a Dandra Moss three-ball on a fast-break.
Botas reeled the hosts back in, though, and threatened to take a big first-leg lead in the waning minutes after a Chaney three-point play made it 67-61.
Moss made one of two free-throws for Gran Canaria and the hosts' Leticia Romero finished the scoring with a basket to reduce the deficit to just three.
Moss had 21 points for Gran Canaria while 17-year-old Spanish center Astou Ndour had 13 rebounds to go with her 10 points.
Ndour is a candidate for the FIBA Europe Young Women's Player of the Year.
