| 22.11.2011 EUROCHALLENGE Pinar Karsiyaka avoided a second home defeat in the EuroChallenge by the skin of their teeth on Tuesday night against Telekom Baskets Bonn. The Izmir outfit prevailed 66-65 as a potential game-winning three-pointer for Bonn by Simonas Serapinas stayed out at the end. Karsiyaka, led by Jovo Stanojevic's 16 points and 11 rebounds, had to come from behind in the fourth quarter. A Serapinas shot from long range gave the visitors a 56-47 lead with 9:15 to go in the game. Stanojevic hit a jump shot and Birkan Batuk a three-pointer to start a 10-2 run that left the home side trailing 58-57. Bonn snapped a 60-60 tie when Fabian Thülig went in for a lay-up with 2:42 to play. But another Batuk three-ball gave the home side a 63-62 advantage. Goran Ikonic then added a trey before Anthony Gaffney's shot from long range for Telekom Baskets cut the Karsiyaka lead to 66-65. After Batuk missed for Karsiyaka, Serapinas was off target for the visitors. But Mire Chatman's wayward three-pointer with 10 seconds to play gave the visitors one last chance. Serapinas launched the shot but missed as Michael Koch's team suffered a one-point defeat. Gaffney had 18 points and eight rebounds for Bonn, who also got a game-high 14 assists from Jared Jordan. Karsiyaka improved to 2-1 in Group G and Bonn fell to 1-2. |
