|Michael Roll stayed below his average for Antwerp Giants but still contributed 17 points to the win over Enisey|
BC Enisey held high-scoring Michael Roll to 17 points but still fell 73-69 at Antwerp Giants.
The Belgium club improved to 3-1 in EuroChallenge Group E and Enisey slumped to 1-3.
The game hung in the balance with 1:12 remaining after Jasmin Hukic's three-pointer for Enisey knotted the game at 64-64.
After each side turned the ball over, Enisey fouled Timothy Black and he sank the first for a one-point lead but missed his second attempt.
Salah Mejri grabbed the offensive rebound off the missed free-throw, though, and passed to Black.
He then located Roll on the perimeter and fed the Californian.
One of the leading three-point shooters in the competition, Roll buried the shot from long range for a 68-64 lead just 27 seconds from the end.
Afik Nissim converted two free-throw opportunities for Enisey to cut the gap to two, and then fouled Ralph Biggs.
The Giants sharpshooter made the first free-throw but missed the second, yet followed his shot to keep possession for the Giants.
Enisey had to foul Roll and he made no mistake with two free-throws.
Lonny Baxter's jump shot gave Enisey hope, reducing the arrears to 71-68.
Black added two more free-throws to extend the advantage back to 73-68 with 12 seconds to play and Antwerp held on.
Black led the Giants with 19 points while Mejri had a game-high 10 rebounds to go with his six points, three steals and two blocks.
Israel international Nissim had 18 points in defeat.
Enisey player Lonny Baxter:
"To much turnovers killed us. That was the key of the game. We had our chances, but we didn't make it."
Giants player Darnell Wilson:
"We played hard on defense. That was important. With 3 out of 4 we have a great opportunity for us to qualify. The big thing is now to finish."
Enisey head coach Stevan Karadzic:
"Congratulations for the Antwerp team. They play a solid game and finished the game well. But we still believe, with two home games, that we have an opportunity in this group."
Giants head coach Eddy Casteels:
"We played too nervous. And we have also too many turnovers. But, this was a big and important win. We must now finish the job."
