Elan Chalon won a thriller for the second week in a row on Tuesday to clinch first place in EuroChallenge Group E. The French club, following last week's one-point victory over BC Enisey, prevailed 79-78 at Antwerp Giants on Tuesday. In a battle of 4-1 teams, Chalon won after a late steal and three-pointer by 24-year-old center Abdul Aminu. In the waning seconds and his team trailing 78-76, Aminu stole the ball from Michael Roll and then drilled the game-winner from behind the arc. Antwerp, who got 19 points from Darnell Wilson and 15 from Roll, looked to be in good shape. They were on top, 78-74, after Ralph Biggs split a pair of free-throws. But Malcolm Delaney scored on a lay-up before Aminu rescued the club at the end with the steal and three-pointer. Delaney had 21 points while France's silver-medal winning guard from EuroBasket 2011, Steed Tchicamboud, poured in 17. |
