|Ernest Bremer and BC NN will move to the Last 16 from top spot in Group D after beating Ventspils|
The Russian club won at home, 77-63, to leapfrog the Latvian outfit into top spot in Group D.
Both sides finished with 4-2 records and each claimed a victory against the other, but BC NN won the group because of an advantage in goal differential in their two meetings.
Ventspils, who were led by Samuel Willard's 14 points, and BC NN had already sealed a place in the next phase of the competition before Tuesday's game.
Zoran Lukic's men took command with a dominating display in the second quarter when they outscored Ventspils 21-7 for a 41-29 lead.
BC NN twice in front by 18 in the fourth quarter before walking off the court with a 14-point triumph.
Ernest Bremer finished with 15 points to lead BC NN.
The 1.88m guard didn't explode from long range as he did last week when nailing seven of 11 three-balls in a victory over Khimik, but Bremer was two of three from the arc on Tuesday and also had nine assists.
Ventspils Head Coach Gundars Vetra
"We are glad to qualify for the next round of EuroChallenge. This game wasn't principal. Surely, we didn't want to lose this game, but in such situation it's really difficult to motivate the players for a serious battle. What's more, tonight I wanted our players that didn't have enough game time to play more. Partly we managed this task. We are a little bit disappointed because of our loss but in general we are satisfied with the group stage results. Congratulations to Nizhny Novgorod. Your team played aggressively and tough on defence, we couldn't help it sometimes."
BC NN Head Coach Zoran Lukic
"This game didn't have principal meaning because both teams are qualified for the next round. That's why our first task was to show basketball of a very high level and to correct our mistakes after the defeat in Latvia. Unfortunetely, I can't be fully satisfied with my team, there were some negative moments in this game. We have to think about our faults and be prepared for the next games in EuroChallenge. I'm very glad for Oleg Baranov and our rookie, Fedor Klyuchnikov, who helped the team a lot."
Ventspils player Ronalds Zakis
"It was a tough game. We knew that it's not an easy matter to play in this hockey arena. It's rather cold here and we don't get used to play in such conditions. We tried to play hard but our opponents played better."
BC NN player Oleg Baranov
"We are glad to spend such a good game. We couldn't allow ourselves to lose this home game. we did want to win. It was crucial for us not to let the opponent score more than 75 points. Everybody tried to do his best not to let it. Also, I'd like to notice our rookie Fedor Klyuchnikov, I wish him to make progress."
