Ernest Bremer exploded for 39 points and fired BC Nizhny Novgorod past Khimik Yuzhny on Tuesday in the EuroChallenge.
Bremer hit seven of his 11 shots from long range and BC NN overcame an 11-point deficit at half-time to post an 87-78 Group D victory.
The Russian club won both of their games against Khimik in the Regular Season and improved to 3-2 to move within touching distance of a spot in the Last 16.
BC NN took the lead for good when Artem Yakovenko made a pair of free-throws for a 73-71 lead with 4:31 remaining.
Semen Antonio followed with two more, taking his points haul to 14, for a 75-71 advantage.
A pair of Reyshawn Terry free-throws reduced the arrears to 75-74 with 3:58 to play, but Bremer, after Khimik guard Darrel Mitchell was called for an offensive foul, made a lay-up to push the lead back to three.
Mitchell sank two from the stripe to cut the visitors' lead to 77-76, but Yakovenko buried a three-ball.
After Khimik pulled to within two with two free-throws, Yakovenko drew a foul and made two at the charity stripe for an 82-78 advantage.
Bremer then struck with a dagger from behind the arc for an 85-78 lead to take his points haul to 39.
Khimik, led by Terry's 17 points and 11 boards, have fallen to 2-3 with the defeat.
Darko Russo, head coach Khimik:
"I want to congratulate Nizhny Novgorod. We played good basketball in the first half. In the second half it was not the same team, absolutely out of concentration, especially on defense. All the time we were talking about Bremer. I put 3-4 different players against him. We played absolutely out of concentration and very slowly on offense in the second half."
Reyshawn Terry, Khimik player:
"In a game like this, when you are up, we try to do everything that you can to make the right plays. Whatever reason, I just don't know why we played bad in the second half."
Ernest Bremer, BC NN player:
"I'm not a hero of this game. We won as a team. We have some guys heard today and we new this is going to be an important game and we must fight 40 minutes and we did it in the end."
Zoran Lukic, head coach BC NN:
"I want to congratulate my players. We showed character and won a game. We didn't give up after the first half. Our team was concentrated only on basketball and I'm thankful for this."
