|Laura Macchi was outstanding in the huge upset Beretta-Famila sprung against the defending champions|
Beretta-Famila Schio beat Perfumerias Avenida in overtime on Friday night in Italy to ensure the EuroLeague Women will have a new champion.
Fresh off their upset win in Salamanca, Spain, Schio returned to Italy and prevailed 82-72.
Schio had an opportunity to go in front with 23 seconds to go in regulation but Laura Macchi made just one of two free-throws and that gave Perfumerias an opportunity to win.
But the hosts' Liron Cohen drew a charge from Marta Xargay and got the ball back.
Macchi then attempted to win the game with a last-second jumper but was off target.
In the overtime, though, Beretta-Famila started well with two Janel McCarville jump shots.
Fouled on the second, she sank the free-throw for a 73-68 lead.
Erika De Souza replied with a basket for Avenida and then Dewanna Bonner made just one of two free-throws to leave the visitors behind by two.
Macchi went to the other end and scored and then McCarville followed suit with a jumper for a 77-71 Schio lead.
Lucas Mondelo's side got no closer than six points the rest of the way.
