BLMA blew away Frisco Brno in a lopsided 80-50 Euroleague Women victory in Group C.
Montpellier outscored their visitors by more than two to one in each of the first two quarters to take a 40-18 lead in to the locker rooms at half-time, and it only got worse for Brno until the fourth quarter, when they at least held their own to stop the scoreline looking any worse.
The bulk of the damage was done in the second quarter, when over a four minute stretch, Montpellier reeled off 15 unanswered points to take a 38-12 lead two minutes before half-time.
The second half was at least slightly better for the visitors, who scored 21 points in the final quarter to at least reach the half-century and prevent a more embarrassing scoreline.
Ana Lelas led Montpellier with 14 points while Stephany Skrba had 13 and 10 rebounds.
Fatimatou Sacko added 11 points and Sandra Dijon 10.
Romana Hejdova scored 14 points to lead Brno while Romana Stehlikova had 13.
"We are obviously not satisfied, we are a young team low on confidence. There was a big difference between the teams in terms of aggression. We depend on our key players whose statistics are very poor tonight. This is our worst game of the season."
BLMA Head Coach Valery Demory:
"We approached the match with the right attitude and tactically we countered the opposition, they only scored 24% of their shoots. We are happy but there's still some way to go, we should have been winning by 30 points at half-time."
BLMA Captain Gaelle Skrela:
"Our aim was to win, we were playing against a club who have played 15 consecutive seasons in the EuroLeague Women. We didn't know much about the Brno team so we concentrated on our own game."
