|Nicole Powell sparked Wisla with 19 points in the win over battling Brno|
Wisla Can-Pack Krakow assured themselves of top spot in Group C of the EuroLeague Women for at another week with an 80-64 triumph over Frisco Sika Brno.
Nicole Powell put forth another superb offensive display for the winners with 19 points and Polish center Ewelina Kobryn had 16.
Montenegro international Milka Bjelica also had a solid game for Jose Ignacio Hernandez's side with 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Wisla improved to 9-2 with the triumph and dropped struggling Brno to 1-10.
The hosts took the lead for good early in the second quarter.
The game was knotted at 19-19 when Anke De Mondt split a pair of free-throws.
Bjelica and De Mondt then hit back-to-back jumpers before an Ana Dabovic basket stretched the advantage to seven.
Wisla outscored Brno 23-13 in the frame to take a 39-30 advantage to the break.
Brno, who are giving a lot of minutes to young players, continued to battle but fell to another defeat.
The hosts out-rebounded Brno, 41-28.
Wisla were seven of 13 from long range and Brno seven of 19.
Farhiya Abdi, who is a nominee for Young Player of the Year 2011, led the Czechs with 17 points.
Brno head coach Milan Veverka
"I think it was a good game. It is always hard to play after the break. I have a very young team so for sure Wisla was the favourite and the statistics show that - better rebounding and better shooting percentage. Congratulations to the home team and we stay with only one won game in Brno just versus Wisla."
Wisla head coach Jose I. Hernandez
"It was a hard game - it is always hard after the break like the guest coach said. We still have problems with injured players. Krezel is out for 3-4 weeks and Phillips is coming back after her arthroscopy but we do not know when she is going to be ready to play. I had the chance to rotate my players. It was good for Leciejewska coming back after the serius injury also for the young Sniezek. We have three more games in our group and want to win as many as possible."
Brno player Martina Staalvant
Congratulations to Wisła. They are much stronger than our team and they have a very long bench- so they can rotate 9 players when we only 6. It was a good experience for us - especialy for our young players.
"It was a hard game and I am happy that all our players had the chance to play and to be the part of that victory. It is always hard to play after the break - so we know we must improve many elements to play better in the next games."
